You can see many of my future gaming predictions here
TO sum up what has happened so far:

2011

-Playstation phone in the spring-Summer.
It was titled Sony Ericsson Xperia and was released in October. I was a bit late on this one by a single month into fall instead of the end of summer.

-playstation tablet, a netbook/ereader in fall-winter
The Sony Playstation Tablet or Sony S1 and S2 has already been announced. The prototype for the S1 and S2 was made available in April 2011. I am not sure when the release date is.

However it appears this may be the S1 that is already available.

I will say this one came out spot on in our range, maybe a bit earlier than anticipated.

2012

-playstation portable 2 in summer 2012
Initially believed to be the S2, it turns out that the Playstation Portable Vita or PS Vita is in fact the playstation portable 2. Then they created plans for the "Next Generation Portable". They decided to rename it yet again to Playstation Vita. It turns out that Technology is accelerating and in fact this one is going to be out earlier than predicted and is available for pre order. It is not surprising that they pushed to have this one ready for preorder before thanksgiving since generally there is a big shopping rush on "black friday". However, the actual PSP2 or Playstation Vita wifi only is not going to be out until Februrary 22nd.

The Playstation Vita Bundle Pack with wifi and 3G is out Februrary 15th.
The PlayStation Vita Bundle Pack will come with a Limited Edition Case, a 4GB Memory Card, PlayStation Vita Wifi-3G, and Little Deviants game (40 ish dollars.)

One thing I missed was the updated version of PSP called the PSP Go

This is more of a minor announcement though and I did not attempt to predict modifications. The PSone was an update to the original playstation for example, but did not significantly change technology. The PSP Go was simply a minor yet sleek update that is more user friendly. It has several changes to make the hardware better so you can download games and store more information and fit it in your pocket, but it still only plays PSP quality games.

The remaining 2012 predictions are

-2nd generation playstation phone with playstation portable 2 technology in Fall
to be determined

-Advancement in playstation move and/or motion gaming. Playstation eyewear?
to be determined
-
I went on to make more predictions however, I would tend to want to move some of them up and change them.

What really amazes me the most is how accurate I was on predicting a future gaming system that I related to the playstion, but the Ninetendo beat Playstation to it as they debuted plans to create exactly what I described when discussing the future of motion gaming.

Said earlier, in the post titled ideas for PSP2 as a follow up to previous posts made on the subject here and elsewhere to promote this site, I said,

"If I were to describe the perfect PSP2 I would want it to be more simple, and I would want it to function as a controller for all games, not just playstation store PS1 and PS2 games. I don't care if the quality is a little bit worse, I want the PSP2 to function as a playstation move controller. "

Now tell me that this doesn't look like exactly what I described?

Perhaps someone with influence has been reading my blog. Just in case, I will come up with a post soon about my vision for the future and idea for the next great leap forward. I have done so in the post titled the next great leap forward in gaming. It is a subject I may have described earlier as well. Predicting the future to me is more about merging previous technologies, and then making them smaller and more efficient before expanding and using features of other technologies. But if you want to make a huge leap forward you sometimes have to think a bit outside the box like Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, and others did. Soon I will provide an "outside the box" view of the future for those looking to get several steps ahead, things that I think would change the world, and I'm sure the readers will enjoy the futuristic view that I have.

I am very excited to see that the Playstation Vita is now available. It is very fun to see many of my predictions come true. You can pre order it on one of the buttons I provided above, or else check out my amazon Astore below on this playstation 4 release date site.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-5238037225134507422011-11-18T14:41:00.000-08:002011-11-19T16:41:45.914-08:00The Next Great Leap Forward In GamingGaming makes everything so unbelievably realistic and that realism is only going to increase. With cloud computing, and enhanced networking, and the efficient means of communication available, has anyone thought about using gaming as a platform to not only assess a person's talents and skills, but also to train those skills, and match them together to help like minded people with unique talents and a desire to change the world to be given "roles" and the communication channels to do so? First on a virtual world, and then in real life? You could have instant conference calls with the given "community", or if you don't like it, find a new community that is a fit for you based on your latest scores in your talents.

To me that is the greatest gift any one could give society at this moment of time. It would not only enhance society, but enhance societies ability to enhance society themselves. It is moving from "giving a man a fish" to "teaching men to work together and train them to start fishing businesses that involves teaching people by the hundreds to fish". It is a self organizing society in which everyone's role can be determined, and the individual has the liberty to train in other areas to enhance other skills, find other team members, find workers as well.

But this leap forward would not be limited to individuals meeting together to start businesses, and to train them, it would also be about allowing them to work together virtually first. It could take people to virtual worlds where they use virtual money to function, and it would be modeled as closely after reality as possible. The game itself would have the interface for people to either directly influence the game (similar to wikipedia only for gaming) or the ability to simply leave feedback in areas of the world and potentially open a poll and vote on things or changes to be made that teams of this virtual world could sort through. It could model behavior and have a lot of AI players that can be replaced when people are gone from the game and put characters on "auto" mode, but record whether the data collected was by AI or human, to provide more accurate feedback.

The CONCEPT is the most important for me to communicate at this moment. Ideas for details are as follows.
The virtual world would not be a game, but more like a network that operates on a "google earth" like interface only with a virtual environment. It will be a dynamic system. The people within the system help to refine the system. When possible real prices of the world would be listed for items. Zillow and/or Realty Trac will help determine values for houses in the US, along with either notes or "bidding" within the virtual economy or voting on "fair value" for a house. Clearly for 7 billion people to operate at once it would be a tall task, but if each person is rendering only 50 miles of their location and providing computing power for those 50 miles to everyone else on a cloud computing network, I think it could work.

I believe society would be much happier if they could demo where to live and work first, and their weekly costs and expenses, and if they could be put in a work environment that suits them best. Businesses would be way better off, because they get to assess talent through simulation first. Entrepreneurs would be way better off because they would get paired up with the ideal people to go out and try things and the go into the real world and do it. Extraction and production of resources and implementation would be more efficient, costs would be lower, ideas would be put into practice sooner, and society would accelerate their rate of evolution.

The money people make would be able to buy a lot more, and the business growth could result in a lot more money being produced and made as well.

The virtual earth could be a perfect replica, but everyone would take up a lot more virtual space or pixels, or else the virtual world would be less zoomed in, until more people join this network, then everything can shrink a little and be more zoomed in as more people join. Or it can always be a complete replica and AI players would just live in the AI house.

The virtual world would be a portal into other games, and game makers could either add to the code in an open source format, or else just have a launch point into gaming. Games would have a "demo" aspect. The virtual world could be free but game developers could pay the gaming system or whatever to have initial exposure. Based on popularity and ratings by individuals, games would either grow or contract their "virtual real estate" and virtual advertising "launch to" points. Individuals could also disable such ads based on criteria.

It would also be a system that is used to help assess talents so businesses can find and train future employees and even CEOs and leaders and so on.

Think of this virtual world as having "apps" only in a 3-d environment. Perhaps a bit like second life. But the focus would need to be in expanding the amount of people who can work together to expand this virtual world and also to be able to skype or use communication to try to translate their ideas from virtual to real life. The assistance of artificial technology is something that people can work on modifying into this (potentially open source) gaming system. So that people can describe what they want to try and the artificial intelligence tries to give them ideas, or previous models to implement their idea. Perhaps a group of people want to work on harnessing the waves powers and transforming them into energy. Perhaps there are previous models of hydropower that can be suggested and they can use the principals of those ideas and the try to improve upon it or better understand the technique.

I believe those with the ability to take action and make the world a better place have the responsibility to at least put in some effort to achieve these means and enhance society. Therefore I feel it is my duty to describe what I feel is the most valuable idea I can.

I feel with this technology, a golden age should be upon us. Without it, we will descend and the scarcity of resources shall become a problem.

The future starts with the youth anywhere from 3 year olds to adulthood. Much of the youth spends their time playing video games, interacting with others online and living in virtual worlds. Technology is evolving to make the virtual world more and more like the real world. However this is where I believe it is the responsibility of game maker, gaming systems, and those with the communication channels to take action. The virtual world may be "real enough" in terms of the look, feel, artificial intelligence and physics, but it does not go far enough in terms of using it as a training device to enhance humanity. This is my goal to communicate how the systems can be in place to make a quantom leap in technology and provide a greater feedback loop within gaming systems and their customers and increase the adaptability of the future of gaming to fit that which what people ask for.

Gaming has great entertainment value. However, that does not nearly describe what is possible with gaming. Typically aside for a very select few innovators, technology evolves linearly. It actually has been somewhat surprisingly predictable if you look at technology closely.
What occurs is something small expands and eventually goes commercial. multiple things go commercial and other things adapt to meet the demands set by whatever the consumer chooses and whatever technology seems to dominate the market.

Steve Jobs took the mp3 boom and the success of Napster, and packaged it in the technology that was available MP3 hardware, and made it more potent, and marketed it very well and made music affordable and portable. He then saw phones advancing and he took a fairly big leap forward with the Itouch and combined it with the Smart phone to produce the Iphone. However, with exceptions to the Ipod being a jump from a walkman, this is still a somewhat linear progression. In my mind I see two potential futures.

One is a linear progression to the same thing I have in mind. It could take a very long time if the scarcity of resources becomes an issue which is a high probability if technology does not continue to accelerate. But the other is a quantom LEAP forward, the type of leaps that have occurred in the past such as inventing telephones, wireless communications, automobiles (and Ford's commercialization of it), the invention of planes and commercialization of it, the invention of ionosphere technology by tesla and the many ways he tapped into it. The invention of the lightbulb and electricity and commercialization of power.

We need to work together to get this technology produced for the sake of the world. The initial cost will be made irrelevant by the type of world we will live in and the resources that will be available. We will be able to have energy for everyone so that every dollar we each have goes a lot more ways. Without hunger or energy being an issue many more people can start looking to PRODUCE. With the production comes greater enhancement and further evolution of society, and through this infrustructure and this system we should be able to live in the future even sooner than we would otherwise, and the production power of society will be increased greatly.

Being FIRST has a tremendous advantage for a business. Being the first to commercialize something is even more beneficial. Henry Ford did not invent the automobile, he merely commercialized it.
Ferdinand Verbiest and Karl Benz are two people mentioned as potentially the first inventor of the automobile, not Henry Ford. However, Henry Ford provided more value to more people through the commercialization of it and as a result was made more wealthy.

The mark of a successful society is how quickly an idea can go from a thought to implementation to commercialization.

I believe there isn't a single challenge facing humanity that cannot be solved if we all utilize our resources efficiently. Unfortunately we are stuck in the old way of doing things. Those too slow to adapt are impediments to our success as society. Every year millions of people starve to death. Not only are these people's loss of life tragic, but their time spent living could be more efficiently used to enhance humanity, rather than become a roadblock. Society needs to transform from a consumer of resources to a creator and intelligent implementer and transformer of those resources into a more effective way for society to evolve.

Currently I believe many talents go to waste. There is high unemployment and underemployment around the world, and those employed do not work as efficiently as they could. There are many people that look at robots as a hindrance to humans. That robots will replace humans. I believe that can be a good thing if it frees humans to more effectively transform society in a positive way. But in order for that to be possible, we need a system that effectively utilizes people's talents, and we also need a field that can create a large growth in entrepreneurship.

What society suffers from right now is a large amount of people that have many underutilized talents. I believe future gaming can be a perfect medium to train and assess those talents. I am a bit biased as a US resident, but I believe the stunning example of progress is best illustrated in the US. The American dream of coming up with a brand new idea, and starting a business that enhances society and makes everyone including yourself rich is still alive and well. However, so many people just doing what they are told, end up not having a chance to take that risk, and not knowing how, even though there are 7 billion people in the world, many of which have had a million or billion dollar idea at one point without the ability to implement it.

I believe the future of gaming has a responsibility to fill that void.
Call it a "gameocracy" or a "virtualocracy" if you like.

The way to be first is to see the future. Buckminster Fuller has many books that can better explain the natural progression of things and forecast the future by understanding the linear progression. But if you want to make huge leaps forward you need to skip all of the devices in the middle and figure out how you can use existing technology in a more productive way to not only work two steps ahead of everyone else, but increase the productive power of technology as a whole.

Even many people considered to be great innovators have failed to make drastic strides, but linear growth along with a few minor tweaks has been enough to progress technology in many ways even exponentially, and it does so in a way that makes them and their business rich. Steve Jobs saw the big picture. He made great leaps seeing the need and the opportunity available. Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison however made perhaps even greater strides. They were able to see what wasn't there like no one else with all due respect to the great late Steve Jobs.

So what is the great leap forward?

I speak according to my vision of the future which I made years ago which so far has been accurate. The Wii U is the portable gaming technology that can be shared with the TV that I talked about. The Playstation Vita is very similar and the release date was 1 month from being in my projected range. Sony in fact did get into tablets to tap into the iphone market. I predict they will in fact consider getting into subscription gaming if they are smart and on top of things. Right now Amazon looks to be a step ahead of things there and Netflix is at risk of falling behind. You have to see what others around you are doing and how they will converge.

The technology behind gaming in the future will not be for entertainment purposes only. Cell phones, Facebook, Youtube, Skype, social media and the internet has lead to a lot more activism. Even if we are in the early stages and that activism is relatively primitive and thus is very uncivilized and unproductive, it can serve a greater purpose. I believe technology will further enhance people's ability to make a difference in a more productive way.

There are many people such as myself that want to enhance and increase the speed of technology growth in a productive way and that have tremendous ideas that can provide solutions to the world's problems. However, I lack the resources to do so. In the past, I only would have told a few close friends, and my parents and they would think the idea is very cool, but it wouldn't get too far. With the internet I can tell many more people who can tell their friends and perhaps some of the ideas that people get most excited about can spread in focus groups and things of this nature and eventually get to the people that have the businesses and that are in a position to make a difference.

I think much of the frustrations showed by the tea party, occupy wallstreet, and other protesting is caused because of problems of homelessness, hunger, and frustration, and wouldn't otherwise exist if we could take giant strides forward in technology to allow them to take an idea and have their idea either implemented or at least done so in a virtual world and shared with some real innovators. There are lots of people with the ideas but inability to impliment. There are lots of implimenters that are good at taking an idea and making it work but lack creativity and/or the ability to commercialize. There are lots of people that can take the production and put it into a system, without the means to do so. There are lots of financiers with the money and ability and desire to provide resources needed for the right ideas but lack the insight or understanding of how the process will go forward. There are lots of people with leadership to bring it together, but that lack the team with the right elements to lead. There are plenty of people with the natural conceptual understanding of an area, but without the training. There are 7billion people in this world, and so many with various unique necessary talents. If we can only have the insight to find the way to bring all these talents together, we should have a golden age
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-51137794344465868222011-10-11T19:20:00.000-07:002011-10-11T19:21:57.037-07:00Playstation 4 release date targeted around November 2012?I have information that the Wii U will be ready November 2012, so it only makes sense that the next generation of video games is going to be out around that time frame. However, a new playsstation portable with PS3 quality graphics also could be around that same time period, so it's very possible they could put that against the Wii U and come out with the playstation 4 later on. Either way, late 2012 to early 2013 looks like the general timeframe and it will be more narrowed down as we get closer to the ultimate ps4 release date. If you've seen what the Wii U is like, it's almost as if they read the blog, with the touchpad controller that you can take with you and give an even more 3d like effect just like I talked about on this blog. Anyways, I would suspect that the playstation 4 would be around the same time. I haven't heard anything significant lately, unlike the Wii-U which has been shown. But there is indeed a playstation 4 at least in the production phase. The playstation portable to have playstation 3 quality games will have a chip coming out I believe around 2013 if my memory serves correctly, if not, check my other posts it's in there somewhere documented with the links.

I can't wait unltil the playstation 4 comes out. Sorry, short post today
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-86700268715000375222011-07-13T19:01:00.000-07:002011-07-13T19:02:46.711-07:00Sony's Playstation Portable 2 "Next Generation Portable (NGP), PS phone, etcTime to update you on what many diehards already know.but Sony confirmed the Playstation Portable 2 as confirmed. The successor of the playstation portable or PSP is in fact called the Next Generation Portable. It's very sleek of course, and although the tsunami may have delayed things it seems the PSP2 or NGP will be ready by christmas time before 2012.

In other news, Wii announced "Wii U" and Sony is rumored to have a new console the PS4 in 2012!
That is very fast and way ahead of what I expected. After the debut of the Playstation Move I thought they might have bought more time and in the meantime could focus on competing with Apple, and testing developments in the playstation network which could evolve into the playstation 4's network.
Since it's coming earlier than I thought it's probably not going to have virtual reality or eyewear. However, you probably still will have real world MMORPG games and the processing power will be to develop online gaming. You probably will have the playstation store still the main function and it probably is designed in conjunction with the PSP2... I mean the NXG... and the S1 and S2 by Sony Erricsson, as well as the playstation phone, aka "Sony Ericsson Xperia Play"

Looks like exponential is the name of the game and in fact technology is evolving even faster than I had predicted! It seems the PSP3 should be out in 2013 with PS3 quality graphics

Also... Developers are working on launch title games for playstation 4 and havebeen since late 2010, meaning that by the time they're done they expect the playstation 4 to be ready to launch. This means 2012 to 2014 will be launchtime for the PS4.
Please be absolutely sure you understand that right, I am not suggesting a device will be out then, but the technology wil be there. Meaning, there will be a chip. There will be the nanotechnology available to condense the playstation 3 into the size of a phone. I do not know due to confidentiality agreements whether or not this is intended for a phone, a tablet or a playstation portable 2 or 3. Or perhaps it's not for Sony. I can only assume that the other peices of the device will be ready around the time of the chip, but there could easily be delays and it perhaps could not be until 2013 or 2014 or even 2015 when the playstation 3 goes portable. However, being that this is only one company, it's very possible there is another company that is working on the same thing that is already near completion and will be done by this year. I would estimate the playstation portable will have playstation 3 quality by the end of 2013 based on this information, but that's only a guess.
I am excited to see what Sony unveils in Januurary 27th at the Tokyo Press Conference.

Generally you will see a peice of technology get beter, and the portable version of that technology will play catch up. It would not be too farfetched to assume that the playstation 4 will be released before then, however at this point with the playstation move transforming technology and repackaging the Sony as a new gaming system and selling as if it's a new system, it's possible that the Sony will get a few more years out of the device. I was pretty confident that the Sony would come up with something new in 2010 as far back as 2006. They needed something before then to make the Playstation fresh again. I thought it could be the playstation 4.. but instead it was the playstation move. I am now confident that playstation has decided to use that to tide console gamers over for awhile while they work on mobile gaming and notebook gaming. So now they will have the first generation of playstation phones, playstation tablets, playstation portables and possible even follow up with a 2nd or 3rd generation, before we see a playstation 4. There are other things as well to consider. Will Sony push it's 3-d TV and us a device to promote it? Will Sony advance the playstation move and add in 3d eyewear that act as an additional motion controller to monitor head movements? Will Sony improve the PS move with another accessory that attaches to the legs to monitor feet motion? Will pico projector technology be next? Pico projector technology has the capabilities of a pen being able to project a keybord out in front of you so that you can type with your fingers on a table and you have a keyboard that you can take with you. If this technology takes off, playstation could go in a completely new direction. This is what makes it very hard to figure out what's next. Perhaps this pico projector technology could evolve so that it projects onto 3d eyewear and gives you 3d gaming on the go. This would take the current technology of 3d gaming portable which would be a logical progression as well, while being new and innovative. Especially if it is combined with motion technology so that it monitors your head movements. Perhaps there could be a way to put a camera on it as well and the playstation move could either be used or modified into a new device that is similar that allows you to play motion gaming on the go in 3d.

If I were to guess right now, I have a potential logical timeline although I am a bit biased towards speed because I believe the rate at which information/technological breakthroughs increase is exponential. The internet was stage one giving everyone access to the information they need so anyone can have the knowledge to create a business. Mobile internet (apps) is the early stages of having that information orginized. A micro stage of the internet was a site that orginizes that information and allows those seeking information to get it while providing a medium for advertising to online businesses, and an increase in speed. A micro stage of the mobile internet boom was an increase in style that you might have missed if you blinked and we're already in the thick of it with all sorts of different kinds of Ebookreaders, netbooks, ipads, smart phones and now gaming phones. The next stage will be something that levels the playing field which will bring along with it a social frenzy towards entreprenuership which could easily come in the aftermath of a reccession, and out of that technology, the rate at which new inventions and technology is improved will accelerate even more.
A micro stage could be an app that makes it simple to create new apps, as well as an app that makes it simple to hire and fire employees, build online businesses and apps, and orginize human effort. Maybe I'm over estimating the human will to work when life is so easy as it is for some, although I think there is going to be a global mania of some sort just like the dot com. Maybe I'm underestimating the large conglomerates ability to get in the way and prevent the playing field from being leveled, rather than learning to adapt themselves. Maybe I'm underestimating the length of time it will take.

Anways, I'm pretty confident that PSP3 will be here by 2014. That changes my perspective on everything else, so here is my timeline for Sony.

2011

-Playstation phone in the spring-Summer.

-playstation tablet, a netbook/ereader in fall-winter

2012

-playstation portable 2 in summer 2012

-2nd generation playstation phone with playstation portable 2 technology in Fall

-Advancement in playstation move and/or motion gaming. Playstation eyewear?

2013

Spring playstation eyewear connects with playstation portable 2

-Summer playstation tablet 2nd generation with playstation 2 games

-Fall Playstation network to compete with netflix, first with gaming rental system, 2nd with movies/TV shows.

-Winter Playstation portable 3 release with PS3 quality gaming (may be delayed)

2014

Playstation begins to integrate pico projection into gaming somehow. Could just be as an accessory first.

Playstation 4 released sometime around now, but no later than 2016.

Playstation move/3d gaming goes portable possibly PSP3 is delayed until now as it would make a great feature to catch everyone's attention.

Playstation Tablet 3rd generation with Playstation 3 quality gaming released

2015

The fine line between fantasy and reality becomes even more fine and very gray as new technology makes gaming so realistic, possibly tapping into a thought network of some sort. Thought based gaming starts to evolve so thoughts can control devices and so games can influence thoughts through brainwave interaction.

2016

The fine line becomes transparant compared to current reality, however reality itself from this point on will be transformed as people are able to tap into some sort of field where they can share the collective thoughts of everyone, brainwaves can be manufactured and influenced to cure people of hostility and any mental instability, and people are able to share their creativity and ideas to better humanity as the synergy from everyone thinking of ideas together how to solve challenges can lead to solving world hunger, and water and energy crisis and the future will be wonderful for everyone. I am not saying that happens this year, but the technology will start to be put in place from this point onward where that wil gradually become a reality, and a whole new technology much like the internet or smartphones joined thoughts and concepts together, allowing people to share ideas and orginize data in a more effecient way to share information. Smartphones better orginized that information through apps. This next technology will take it one step farther. It will be like tapping into a matrix of ideas and such.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-85672814470581007502011-01-17T17:08:00.000-08:002011-01-17T17:27:12.126-08:00PSP2, Playstation Tablet, Playstation Phone, or Sony Codename Zeus- Sony Set to Reveal New Device, Janurary 27th 2011 - PossiblyJanurary 27th is the day Sony is going to reveal something. According to Wall Street Journal it will combine a game player with an ebook reader and a netbook computer. Is this the PSP2? It is widely speculated to be the PSP2. However, perhaps it's the sony playstation tablet. Perhaps the playstation portable 2 will function as a tablet and PSP2 will just be the name they give it. Perhaps a tablet will come next. Personally, I think it is going to have to have a bigger screen to be a ebook reader that can compete with kindle and Barnes and Nobel's Nook and the Ipad. It's innovative in that it combines the device. I think the screen is going to have to be fairly large. Some fans came up with interesting prototypes that feature the entire front side of the device as the screen, offering more viewing room on the screen, however, the screen will slide open revealing a hand held controller. It sounds like there will be a button or two on the back of the device, and it makes me wonder if the controller could be a touch screen controller. This would be a dramatic change and a little unexpected from a console system company that's always featured a controller with buttons, even with the playstation move there are buttons. It's also possible that the screen has a fulcrum that allows you to rotate the screen to the back, where it will feature a touch panel. An ebook reader and netbook on one sitde, and the controller on the other.
This marks a very exciting time for gaming fans as this could be the day where the future of playstation is revealed.

So a few options are
1) A gaming phone/ playstation phone to compete with windows 7 phone
2) A playstation portable 2 to compete with nintendo DS
3) A playstation netbook reader with games on it to compete with kindle.
4) A playstation tablet or "gamers ipad" to compete with Apple's Ipad.
5) A playstation 4 that revolutionizes gaming and functions as a network similar to netflix... The difference is this network would feature gaming and you can either use a portable playstation 4 device to upload games to your playstation 3 to play games, or you can play games on the go
6) A combination of all of the above

regardless of what the rewsult is, I can't imagine a more exciting time for gaming than to await the release of a new playstation or Sony device that could change the present and future of technology.

I'm crammed with time right now, so I don't have time to summarize the details, but here's some valuable links on the subject.

As we already know, Google and Sony are teaming up to create "internet TV". However, it is rumored that Sony is teaming up with Google on the Playstation Phone which should debut in 2011. If this is true, it only seems obvious that if Sony wants to compete with Apple along with Google, that the Playstation Tablet is next.

It's unclear whether or not they will call either of these devices the "Playstation Portable 2" or PSP2 for short, or if they will keep that as a seperate device, or perhaps no longer use that term to describe either of their products. Maybe they will even use the names "PSP2 and PSP3" for both of them while using the alternate name "Playstation Phone" and "Playstation Tablet". However, that's minor details that don't concern anyone that is simply trying to envision the future of technology.

It's my belief that the combination of Sony products that have recently debuted, (Playstation 3, Playstation Move accessory for the PS3 and 3d TV, as well as the PS3 and PS3 move allowing gaming that is compatible with 3d TV) along with new advancements in partnerships with Netflix and Hulu Plus making games deliverable to PS 3 consoles, combined with the future release of the Playstation Phone and the partnerships with Google, that Sony is ready to really try to make a crack into the Apple market.

Anyone else, I would laugh, and if Sony wasn't partnered with Google, they still might not have a chance. But Sony, just like Apple is known for it's large loyal customer base that buys the new systems year after year. We're talking about the original sony playstation as well as the playstation 2 selling over 100 million copies world wide. Playstation 3 has struggled to sell that many and as of the end of September is 3rd after the Wii an Xbox360.

However, it seems that with the Playstation Move that it will continue to increase it's sales and the Playstation Portable sold over 50 Million as well. The combination of portable console markets gaining loyal customers that nintendo currently is dominating, but a new innovation will make it possible to gain more customers, along with console gamers that have 10s of millions of customer that will easily eclipse 100 million, despite xbox becoming more of a force... in combination with all of the Sony TVs and the partnership with Google could easily be enough to start giving Apple a run for it's money on smart phone sales. Combine that with Sony building off that success and releasing a playstation tablet or "gamer's ipad" and Sony could suddenly become a huge force and innovator in what is currently Apple's market, possibly leading to apple starting to create TVs and game consoles to start innovating in Sony's market...
Or is xbox 360 kinect a PS2 eyetoy clone? There's been what seems like a smear campaign against the playstation 3 move, or perhaps just ignorance calling it a "wii clone". Yes every new console has some similarities. Believe me, although the idea of using your hands for motion may be the same, other than that it is completely different. What's important is the gameplay and the experience that you get either completely change the way gaming is played like with first person shooters. FPS take use of a navagation controller (or you can use a regular sixaxis controller in your left hand and it's actually easier than it sounds) to move your character forwards, sideways, or backwards, while using the move to aim, shoot, and also use the buttons to switch weapons. Or in the case of other sports games, it makes the game feel like you're actually doing it in real life, like with sports champions table tennis. Play pingpong on wii sports resort and then play table tennis for PS move and you will be blown away at how more realistic the experience is. If you were to play wii sports plus, I imagine your actual pingpong game would not improve much. But if you do it on the PS3, It's so real that your actual pingpong experience improves. Go back to Wii and it just isn't like you're actually playing, but is more like a videogame again. Granted Wii motion plus does add a little something and make is have some aspects that seem somewhat realistic but it does NOT compare as it still uses 2 dimensional infrered technology ultimately to determine it's input even with the ability to detect tilt it's not enough to compare.

The future of gaming is not always games, but simulations and real life experience of things people either can't do given the situation (it's hard to get a game of table tennis going at the drop of a hat, and try playing a game of golf when it's dark out, you can't do it), or things that people don't want to do in real life due to risks they may not take. (Personally, I don't feel driving 200 MPH in nascar, or near 200 in gran turismo's windy roads is something I would feel comfortable with in real life, nor do I wish to fight in wars in real life, or fight a dogfight in the sky on a f16, but a simulation of the experience where I can blow up and walk away without an injury, awesome!). Playstation move makes it a simulation. Kinect is great because it can do some things like soccer and dancing games, but lets face it, the games that involve your feet aren't going to give you full emersion into that experience because you cant run full speed without smashing into a tv. You can run in place, you can kick if you clear enough room. But when you want to rest and play while you sit down, there are plenty of games that let you do that for the playstation move that aren't there for the kinect. Kinect definately offers somethings. I do find it interesting to play without a controller but it's not something that I would do all the time for every game, and I personally don't think it is the future of gaming. If the future of gaming is without a controller it will be because of brainwave and brain feedback with EEG machines that figure out your brainwaves, and also electrodes that stimulate back your brain so you experience the sensations. I cannot see people wanting to "air drive" a car, or "air ping pong" with their hand unless they're playing hand ball. Yes there's plenty of games for the kinect if you want it that add something.

Now if you think the Playstation move is a wii clone, or your sick of those who claim that, you may find this funny.

Playstation Eyetoy for playstation 2 had a toy called "kinetic" not kinect, "kintetic". Not only does it sound similar, but look at it.

Does that not remind you of the kinect? LOL, it does to me. Yes, it's completely tue that this is a technology that is inferior and is only a motion sensor camera. If you are moving to touch something on the screen it doesn't matter if there's depth or not. But for actual gameplay can someone tell me what the kinect adds other than disassociation from the character? (Rather than you being the character you are more like the controller performing a sort of voodoo on the character to make him move as you move) The timing of it probably means the kinect will sell more than the eyetoy did because after the breakthrough in playstation 1's dance dance revolution, and PS2 following up along with other systems, and Nintendo Wii gaining momentum with a major advancement in motion technology, the Nintendo Wii brought a ton of NEW people into gaming that had never heard of PS eyetoy and got them accustomed to motion gaming, and so the kinect SEEMS new. And people that see a commercial don't really get that the playstation move has a camera that can detect 3d exact 1:1 gaming, meaning you get the exact motions you make, rather than just timing a release point and hoping the game doesn't glitch and think you're putting spin on it when you're not and guessing about your motion, it's exactly 1:1, it knows everything you do. As for xbox kinect vs playstation 3 move, let alone playstation eye toy, I don't really see how the actual gameplay of kinect is that different from playstation 2 eyetoy games. Yes the xbox 360 is an upgrade even though both play at 60 frames per second, the xbox360 has better graphics than the PS2 as does the PS3. Xbox360 has voice recognition and facial recognition (but eyetoy had gesture recognition). But seriously when you're playing a game, what does it really add? I see some potential what it could add, but I haven't seen it yet. If you were to play kickball it wouldn't just measure whether or not you kick the ball but how hard, what direction and what was the timing of it. Soccer is definately a game that if I liked, I would love the kinect. Outside of that though, I haven't seen enough to convince me that xbox kinect is that great yet, especially to justify a higher price tag than the move. I admit some games would be cool for awhile, but I really think novelty will wear off eventually, and the game that is the most versitile about controls, that can just be a camera, that can be a controller, that can provide feedback and everything else is going to be the one that wins. Time will tell.

I can certainly tell you what playstation move adds to gameplay. It can add the realistic graphics of the playstation 3 that the wii does not have, yet provide everything the wii has in motion gaming... PLUS it adds a whole new level of accuracy and percision making the games go from games to actual simulated experiences. The kinect is going off out of the blue taking a huge risk for something that only adds something for foot based games. Globally soccer is very popular so I wouldn't completely be surprised to see the Xbox kinect have a lot of success, but as an american company selling primarily to the market of americans, who probably care the least about soccer, I think microsoft would be better suited selling to the playstation which has more global exposure, but I don't blame them for looking to expand in their global markets, and this could be the thing that helps. Additionally dance games are popular and may bring gaming to more female markets and will compete more in the family market.

The playstation move is stunningly accurate. It also can make your first person shooter games MORE precise movement than a mouse for aiming, while giving you buttons to press when needed, a trigger button like a joystick, percise aiming and a completely different, but still natural feel to your play, and realistic gaming. A mouse is 2 dimensional corresponding to a 2 dimensional screen that attempts to show 3 dimensional depth. But a mouse cannot always move, especially on an old pad where you want to, you have to pick them up and move them around, and it's just not the future. For kinect, I don't think aiming my finger at a camera making "pew pew pew" noises or saying "shoot shoot shoot" seems like something I want to be doing. Driving might work while putting my hands in front of my face and "air driving" but seriously is that really going to feel like driving if you have to stand up and pretend to half sit while not feeling vibrations when you smash into cars? How do you gas and break? Some games need buttons. Yes wii has motion gaming plus buttons, PS3 has motion gaming plus buttons. But if you honestly believe the playstation move is a wii clone, than it is no more so a wii clone than an xbox kinect is a playstation eyetoy clone.

Now for a bit of a history lesson. Although in the late 1980s Nintendo started motion technology with the "power pad" it wasn't until playstation 2 had the dance dance revolution pad and playstation eyetoy that motion gaming really took off. In 1999 the eyetoy was demonstrated at a game developers conference. In 2003 the eyetoy was released in some places in the world such as europe and US and 2004 it was released in japan. In 1999 DDR was made for arcade use and later convered to playstation 1 where it sold over 3 million copies. It was then later made for PS2 and other gaming platforms.

Nintendo Wii then responded by recognizing this craze, and they created an entire system dedicated to motion gaming. Playstation just continued it's progression of the eyetoy only blew both their own and the wii out of the water.

This next video is a bit harsh towards the xbox... Xbox Kinect offers great things for soccer games, leg sports (soccer, track and field, kickboxing), running games, family games, and if you don't mind "air driving" as opposed to getting feedback through buzzing, driving games work fine as do other hand motion games. But it shows briefly some of the percision accuracy you can get with playstation.

What the video doesn't show is the experience you can get. I played table tennis on sports champions for playstation move and I felt like I was actually getting the exact experience of playing. When I hit the ball the controller vibrates based on how I hit it, but with 1:1 accuracy it means the paddle moves wherever I move. There's only 2 hundreths of a second delay and it's only enough to barely be consciously aware of if you REALLY REALLY move fast and you really watch it carefully it's almost not detectable. Old TVs are said to be closer to 4 hundreths of a second delay which could be problematic, but my TV is 6 or 7 years old and I expected to see a delay and I couldn't even tell until I really looked and even then, I'm still not convinced there is one.

You get a real expereince. You can play sitting down if you want. You can play standing up if you want. You can play games that only need subtle movements. Really the plystation 3 move adds a lot. Wii technology is 2-dimensional infrered sensors. Xbox kinect uses infrered scanning but because it maps your whole body rather than just the end of the controller and because it can process a lot of info, it can actually do a good job of mirroring 3d movement, but not quite precise.

IGN posts a fair review about the playstation move, claiming that the PS move is a balance of both the wii and the kinect having the best of both worlds, however I feel it's a bit critical in some parts. Personally I've never experienced any kind of noticable delay, or had any problems with lighting and at times I've had a light right behind it. Maybe sunlight responds differently because the room in which I play does not have any sunlight at all. I also find the game responds perfectly in the dark as well. The thing about the games having issues I can't comment on because I've seen none. The games I have played are Mag and sports champions, and I've also played every game in the demo pack. The game TV superstars is ridiculous, and is not my thing, but I suppose some people will like that sort of thing, and it is funny how you can personalize the character. It takes a picture, puts your face on the player and has it in game. Sports champions allow you to take a picture of yourself after the play and it will add in an object such as a ping pong paddle in real time and take a picture. The camera quality isn't great, but it serves it's purpose.

On interesting idea. If you have the playstation eye toy, and take the playstation move controller with the playstation 2 eyetoy games, you can use the light so that it can detect the motion. The light from the bulb makes your playstation 2 eye turn into a kinect essentially. Of course the playstation eye games maybe aren't the same and are more about pictures of objects being superimposed in front of yourself in a 3d environment, rather than you becoming a player which you see on screen.

Ultimately if you're going to call a playstation move a wii clone, you're going to have to call xbox 360 kinect a PS2 eye clone, which means Playstation wins here. If you don't call the PS move a wii clone, and respect the advancements that make it oh so much better, you can at least respect the advancements in technology that were brought just as the xbox kinect wouldn't be here if it weren't for Nintendo (power pad) and Playstation 1 DDR and playstation 2 eye toy and ultimately Nintendo Wii. Then you can say, the Playstation move is great, but I prefer kicking the air and punching the air and putting my hands up to "air drive" or "air tennis" or to play a game and say "look ma, no hands". Or "I don't care about gamplay I just want to have a system that responds to my voice and knows who I am so I can tell it what movies to watch and not have to pick up a remote and press a button". At least then you don't sound like an ignorant xbox fanboy who's just overhyped about his system too much to consider that the xbox kinect is more similar to the playstation eyetoy than the playstation move is to the wii. And when it comes to experiences, playstation move offers superior gaming and more realistic simulations of the actual experience.

What's the truth? No, The PS move is not a wii clone, and the xbox 360 kinect is not a PS2 eyetoy clone. By the way, playstation move offers 3d gaming so if you want the ultimate gaming experience and you're willing to buy a 3d TV, check it out.

Yes, now you see how excessive the claims are exagerated.
Bottomline: Kinect is for soccer and dance and "foot" based games, but also movie watchers that like verbal navigation. It's also for people that like things "outside the box" but if you really want to step outside the box, check out emotive's thought controller based games. Wii is a step and a half behind now until they come out with something else. PS move is for all else, and it has more titles set to release.

As for fighting games? I guess kickboxing isn't that great so far.

Haven't seen a review of the actual gameplay but everyone seems to like everything else about it. Motion tracking is not 1:1 in kinect though and there seems to be too big of a delay. However, soccer, track+field, dancing games... kinect is dominant in these and will remain that way.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-91342729555439851042010-11-12T17:58:00.000-08:002010-11-12T17:58:00.178-08:00Open Letter To Sony Regarding The PS4 - updated 11/12/2010
Originally posted 3/9/2009. This is open in more ways than one. This letter is open to all to read, but it also is open for addition, and open for you to comment on things you would like to see with the PS4.

In light of the economy being in difficult shape, how is the PS4 going to be able to make things easier for themselves without sacrificing quality?

1)

WHAT

First, go digital. Sony has already seemed to drop some hints that the next system might not even use DVDs, but as a consumer I am in full support.

WHY
It is expensive to do things the "old" way so it makes sense for Sony. Why would I like it? Easy... It's more convenient. I don't want to go out to the bookstore to buy a book, so I use amazon. I don't want to go drive 15 miles to the retailer like Best Buy and back so I would rather just buy at home.

Sony shouldn't have to "pay the middlemen". The wholesalers, and the retailers eat up costs for shipping. In addition, they will raise prices on the already "crunched" consumer.

The consumers can't afford to pay higher prices due to the additional costs that you normally would pass on, but even if they can, the wholesalers are taking money away indirectly by raising the prices to cover their costs of shipping to retailers, and to package and to also make a profit. When they pass it onto the retailers, the retailers must also hike up the price to make a profit.

When the consumer has to pay $80 for a game when Sony sold it to the wholesaler at $40, that's indirectly costing you up to as much as $40 as that $40 could potentially go towards buying another game.

Of course, that ignores the costs of making the game and shipping it out to the wholesalers.

In addition, if developers can only create the game by using your network on the sony digital platform, you may be able to consider collecting fees. The game makers won't mind, because the profit margins for a digital game will be higher anyways.

Oh yeah, and the gas prices are kind of expensive, less driving means more money in my pocket, which means more money for video games... Not to mention that some people go out shopping and they end up coming home with a whole lot more than they intended on buying, most of which is not the video game they set out to buy. Add in all of the impulse buyers and this is just so obvious, it's a no brainer.

HOW

This could be done a number of ways, The games could be installed in some digital memory drive similar to Sandisc memory sticks. It could use cartridges, or it could use a more innovative way of a small chip it could be placed inside the front of the console and read. But I think the best option would be to use an online store where people can buy games for reasons already mentioned.

This is probably already something Sony is working on. Afterall, they have the Sony Store in PS3, it would make sense for them to just expand that completely for PS4.

2)

WHAT

MANY New Features in the Sony Store

WHY?

If buying at the Sony Store is how you're getting your game sales, you better make sure you do everything to keep them there.

HOW

When they turn on the game, they automatically log on. They are brought to a page with a reminder of NEW games. They are told what coupons and discounts they qualify for, or how close they are to the next "level" of discounts. Earn X more points and your discounts are twice as good, or Earn X more points and you get a free game!

All sorts of promotions could be run, buy 2 get one free or buy 1 get the 2nd half off. You could get points for purchases which could be used for special offers, or converted into cash. You might even give them points for playing longer to reward their loyalty to you to ensure they're not off playing nintendo's or microsofts games instead.

Make sure to have all sorts of free ads for the games, but in some cases you can even charge for them to see "full length demos".

One of the best negotiating techniques is "nibbling" this is where you might buy a car and agree to it and then right before you go to sign you say things like "that does come with a free tank of gas right?" "okay, well how about a free warentee?".

From the other side, someone might get you to buy a completely stripped down car with no features for a "really good deal" but then as you go to buy it, they say "for only this much extra you can have this" and so on.

How does Sony use this?

The way The Sony store could run it, is have cheaper games, but then in order to buy additional characters, you'd have to pay extra, then in order to buy additional levels, you'd have to pay extra. You might still give them to have the option to "buy the full game" but have "upgrade packs"

Let all the major game makers know of all the built in features you have to make this VERY easy for them.

Allow people to rent games at this store, and have reminders when they are running out of time, and ask them if they want to renew. Once you have their credit card once to buy one game, they will not need to take it out again to buy, they can just use their account password and verify their actions.

Customers might be a little ticked off at first at all these additional costs until they understand this is how things are done, but will actually learn to like it even more if you take into account the reduced value in the pricing. I hate buying a game that I get bored with, I'd much rather pay $30 for an incomplete game that might end up costing $60, then find out It's too difficult, and I don't want to "upgrade". I might not even buy a game because it seems like too much, and don't want to take the time to go out to a store and rent it. Major successful companies win because of convenience. However, I would pay for a "trial" of several games, and I might even subscribe for continuously new trials.

update: One new feature I have thought of and have been mentioning lately is a netflix style subscription but only for video games instead.Different subscriptions might represent different time lengths you are allowed to play for or the number of new games you get to try and play instantly each month.

3)

WHAT: Make the users involved in the development of the game

WHY: I get tired of all these extentions on game release dates. With this system, they could release sneak previews of the game, then a beta version of the game, and then the complete game, and then bonus games. Every step along the way they could get feedback.

Diehards would love to pay every single step along the way, some might even pay additional amounts to get automatic updates. But with the user providing feedback the games would fit their tastes, and you would make sure they don't continously get disapointed with lack of a real high quality game... if they don't like it they can provide better feedback!

Going along with what was mentioned before, there could be additionl fees for upgrades, but rewards for those who already own the previous game, especially if they have provided a lot of feedback.

Not only that, but you have access to tons of beta testers who are willing to PAY for the games. (sorry beta testers, don't hurt me, just an idea!)

HOW: You can reward them if you want quality feedback with "points" if they are willing to submit reviews about the game, and you can actually track how long they tested the game for to reward them more. This perhaps will be the best part of it. It will provide a lot of hype as well as people will be talking about the games, and brainstorming in forums together about different ideas.

This complete integration will be excellent. An EA Sports game like Madden, may never have to stop being created. Simply pay for an upload of the new features, the new draft class, the changes in teams, and everything else. If they want to play online, they MUST have the latest stuff, and they must occasionally pay for new updates or find someone else who has fewer updates or agrees to play the less complete game.

Some people want the game as soon as possible... others don't even want the game at all if it isn't complete and end up being disapointed that certain glitches aren't fixed, that certain features aren't added. With this method they get to say exactly what they want, and if they don't get it, they can continue to suggest the idea, let other people know until everyone else agrees and the game maker can better suit their customer.

With games made for the gamer, BY the gamer, who wouldn't want to own a PS4?

Update: Seems like Playstation 3 has already integraded some of this stuff to the best of it's ability. But isn't quite there yet. I'm talking about being able to download a beta version of the game

4) What: Remain backward compatible - this may seem to contridict the whole going digital thing but it doesn't have to be. Also, it might be more expensive to provide disc technology when all the new PS4 games are digital.

WHY? People aren't going to be as willing buy the new system if Sony changes their policy and suddenly doesn't support at least the previous game console. But how can this be addressed if it's digital?

It would be more expensive if it was a digital console that also had a dvd

Here's how...

You could go with an additional device a external DVD player, but I don't think that's the best option. The best option I think, is to use the PS3 sony online and hard drive, and have the ability to convert all games to their online account. They could then transfer their old games (only once or twice to prevent theft) to the online store, and login with their new device.

If you allow an external device as an option, people can use that to upload and store it online as well if they wish. People could pay for larger storage that they could access. This way anyone can use their account without lugging around their game console. They simply visit a friend who also has it, and login and play. Some serious gamers have huge Lan parties where they bring over all their friends and have everyone bring a console, they all hook up and connect to lan to play. This makes it MUCH more convenient.

How do you prevent people from not buying a console and just creating an account at their friends and then using that wherever they go? Simple, only one household per account, and only a few accounts per household. There may be a few, but what's to say they wouldn't have done that anyways?

5) What

Protect hackers and mods stealing games from other networks...

Why? It's obvious,

How

Easy... Since all games are controlled on the PS store, you simply hire people to encrypt it, then to make sure the programmers don't leave themselves the backdoor and later leak the encryption codes, you hire someone else to encrypt the encryption. Of course there will still be people who try to hack it, but making it much more difficult will help

Another solution is to just somehow allow it.
update: I think a subscription gaming would make it easy as no one would have a need to hack to get different games if they can pay $20 a month and play any game they want.

Innovate, Innovate, Innovate: I want to see ground breaking technology, I want to have it revolutionize the way I do things. I want to be able to plug in electrodes and to have all 5 senses stimulated, But I also want to be able to use my 5 senses and my thoughts to have the game react in a different way. I want a simulation of real life. Why not life itself? Because I want to try stuff, knowing that if I fail, I won't die, knowing that if I mess up, I can "reset". I want realism. I want the game to recognize my behavior and anticipate my moves to force me to consciously think about the way I'm thinking. I don't just want this game to change how I think about gaming, I want the gaming to change the way I think about thinking.

I also want an outer experience as well. I want there to be lights that I can turn off with a wave of the hand, but that interact with me, that shine like a flashlight in the dark when I'm playing a game. I want to almost live my fears, and then go on to defeat them walking away knowing there's nothing to be afraid of because I have learned how to outsmart my own thoughts. I want to look death in the eye and walk away feeling victorious. I want a platform so real that businesses will actually PAY you to have access to it's players and choose the person that can handle the simulations. I want the dream that NASA might just contact me about an astronaught, that I can get my pilots license just by playing enough realistic flight simulations, I want NFL teams recruiting me to be a coach just because I can run their offense, or my own offense to such perfection. I want to have investors paying me to invest in real estate because I beat donald trump in the newest real estate game. I want to compete online in tournaments to win cash, or opportunities. I want to be able to transfer everything I've learned by becoming a better gamer toward life, knowing with full confidence that simulation was realistic enough where I actually possess the mental ability under emotional pressures to succeed if that were actually real.

I want to know that the game is a network of everyone's thoughts and it is learning how to adapt, learning how to perhaps even automatically making suggestions to changes in it's own programing for the game to simulate more how the players play, where it models the players that can defeat it, where it models the worst players so they can beat it so new players that choose a low difficulty level can still enjoy winning, and so that even the best players can have a challenge as the game forces you to continue to grow in your abilities to be able to beat it.

6) What: 3d technology
Why: It's cool!
How: PS3 already is implimenting 3d technology, but what I am refering to is an advancement of it. More virtual reality type technology where you put on eyewear and it shades out as much external light as you choose, and you can see the game in 3d. The headwear could also be motion gaming so that in addition to the playstation move, it could also respond to more subtle head movements. Additionally this technology could provide the groundwork to take it portable via virtual reality eyewear. Eventually the technology would be something that could just be a very transparent image that also has features similar to what an iphone has. The advancement of nanotechnology will further be able to allow people to wear a simple contact lense. Of course, there would have to be some sort of way to interact with it and I'm not sure if the thought technology will be discreet enough for people to use everywhere without looking embarasingly weird. So instead perhaps small touchpads that go on the finger so people can type on an empty desk or table or use a desk or table as a touchpad as long as they have the clear possibly even disposable touchpad that can stick to their finger like a peice of tape.

7) Micro Projection -
What: Ability to use something to project the game onto the wall
Why: Gamers can take the game where they want, they can also see it on a bigger screen if they have small TVs, or transfer their game over if someone else in the household needs the TV. Additionally it can provide more convenience and again lay the ground work to make gaming portable and more accessible.
how: This technology exists at least in the early developmental stages already. There is real nano technology that allows someone to use a pen to project a keyboard in front of them, and a monitor for the screen as well. I want PS4 to harness this technology. Maybe this can be more for the future of perhaps the PSP3 as I understand the release of PSP2 may be forthcomming soon. Once the technology in #6 has advanced enough maybe it would make this obsolete, maybe not.

If anyone wants to add something please make a comment!

UnOfficial PS4 site

PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-58038065227164042762010-11-05T15:48:00.000-07:002010-11-12T13:04:36.522-08:00Ideas for the PSP2If I were to describe the perfect PSP2 I would want it to be more simple, and I would want it to function as a controller for all games, not just playstation store PS1 and PS2 games. I don't care if the quality is a little bit worse, I want the PSP2 to function as a playstation move controller. Maybe they intend on the PSP phone being a regular playstation controller, but the playstation portable 2 if it is in fact a seperate device could have motion sensor technology and be used to control your PS3 games remotely even if you're halfway around the world as long as your PS3 is on. If the PS3 isn't ready for this, it could at least be a feature that will be available once the playstation 4 gets released. Maybe that means you have to come up with a USB port and a place to plug in that ORB into your PSP2 so that you can use it as such. However, think of how an iphone has a camera and inertial scanning devices to detect movement. I think it shouldbe able to work as a playstation move controller even if you are away from your TV. But if it is annoying you simply turn the motion portion off, and you use it as if you would a playstation 3 controller.

The difference of course is that aside from automatically syncing via wireless and playstation network login to your game consol, it has a screen and the ability to play and save on your PS3 hard drive. I mean I want to take my playstation 3 gaming experience with me as best as I can. There's always a cycle of technology. Make something easy to make small scale, then commercialize it, then make it bigger and better, then make it portable at similar quality and make it bigger and better so it's as good or better than the original, and make it more and more convenient, and then integrate it with another technology and then make that portable and so on.

Additionally, I want the ability to use my PSP2 as a phone, even if the PS Phone is one too. I don't know, maybe it's a touch phone like iphone, maybe you select a name from a list and you have a keyboard which you can use your thumb as a controller to a mouse. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to make phone access, regardless of whether it's similar to an iphone or an ipad in size. I don't have a preference on whether it's like a laptop or like an iphone, but if it's possible to sell the same device in two sizes, with maybe a few extra features on each, more sales for you.

A main idea I have is subscription gaming! If playstation is smart, they will not only cut into apple's market but netflix as well! I mean there's a reason netflix is successful and growing at a breakneck speed! They have great business model, they have done great advertising and promotional things, and their idea of having people pay a subscription service and allow them to watch all they want streaming, and no late fees is great... Now some people rent video games, do you think it would be hard to make your playstation "store" a subscription service instead? First you give it away free. Nothing excites people like free! You don't have to even have this subscription service debut when the PSP2 does as you can add it later just like you added the PS move! This way people pay $10 or $20 per month and get all the games they want. Then you expand and you start allowing them to have all the movies and TV shows they want. When you begin adding features, then you charge for it, and then you increase the price once you have attracted enough loyal customers. So at that point people pay maybe a little bit more than netflix or even the same amount and they get both games and movies streaming.

Forget about physical delivery of DVDs, that way you don't have to worry about shipping and you are capturing a market that uses their PS3 (which you should be able to wirelessly load the movies and video games onto remotely)... and you are keeping costs low. Remember you already have a partnership with netflix so they can watch movies on your device by streaming it, but It's not neccesary to get into a physical disk drive market when you've already said the future of playstation may not include a physical disk drive. Well... here's your chance, if you want to plan for the future, the movies will be temporary uploaded to your hard drive. Think about it, people are on break at work, and they want to download a movie or game to watch or play tognight... So they open up their PS phone app, select order movie, and they order it for free if they pay their monthly subscription. digital copies of data is virtually almost no cost, why do you have to worry about how many games people play? Instead, you can charge them more per month if they go over their storage on your server by saving not on memory cards but storing their games on the internet on your server/network instead.

They can have movies ON the actual PS phone and PSP2, but you are also able to download it TO the playstation 3 and then watch it from there. The PSP2 could easily be a very smooth transition into the future of gaming and start really having features that the PS4 will have.

I believe the PS4 will take 3d gaming to the next level and take 3d gaming portable. The PSP2 is probably too early for such technology. But PSP4 could have an eyewear device that projects either in front of you or directly onto your eyes so that you can see in 3d. It's more of a virtual realityeyewear with motion sensors to detect head movements. The playstation 4 can be portable, and maybe the PSP2 can be made good enough so that all that's needed is an accessory like the playstation motion so that the PS4 can be delayed and made to be much more of a breakthrough in the areas of thought technology. This one instead would be eyewear and can also be an added feature that works with the PS3 so that aside from seeing games in 3d, you can also move your head back and forth and the game will detect this movement. dodge punches that are coming at you in 3d by moving your head to the side, then fire one back by actually punching the air with your playstation move accessory, then hit a switch on your eyewear and go elsewhere in your house and you can still play the game. The improvements may have to come from the server, but I'm thinking that eventually, maybe 5 years or so, there will be a need to process information even faster... I'm thinking our thoughts are going to have to become evolved at some point. I'm thinking that the experience will have to feel more real. The vibrations will have to feel more like actual sensations that would occur rather than a simple buzz. Maybe even put on nodes on your body so you can have a sensation like a small electrical zap felt when whatever part of your body is hit. Full on emersion in the game.

Much of the ideas I have about playstation 4 that I have mentioned many times on this blog could easily be applied to the playstation portable 2 if it is done right, or possibly the PSP phone.

Given that the release date could be sometime in 2011, I am leaning towards PSP2 being pretty much like an iphone or ipad only with it's core focus on gaming. We know that PS phone is to be released in 2011 but it's unclear whether or not the PSP2 IS the playstation phone or not. I believe that the PSP Phone will be made to compete with the Iphone, and the PSP2 is to compete with the Ipad but we shall see.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-79448640164554630842010-11-01T19:46:00.000-07:002010-11-12T13:01:21.486-08:00Gamer Of The FutureHey Gamers,
I know I haven't really updated this blog, unfortunately I haven't been as active as I would have liked. I will keep this blog up, as I think it will be a useful reference to look back on in the years to come. However, in the meantime I have started something that is called Gamer Of The Future... The problem with this blog that you're reading now is that once the playstation is already here, the site doesn't have as much value. Certainly I can still talk about playstation 4 and everything, but what then? What happens in 10 years? I think the important thing is that I build a site with a community that is dedicated towards all the information about gaming of today, and gaming of tommorrow.

I have started to update this blog a little bit more, and I haven't really updated gamer of the future. However, I think you want to bookmark that site as eventually once the playstation 4 is released, the site will only talk about current games and technology. Since you're probably here because you like the innovative thoughts and groundbreakingly new technology information, you're going to have to go elsewhere for that type of content. Sometime in the future, the gamer of the future site will be used for just that, but I have a lot on my plate at the moment. Either way, I thought you would like to here about it. Well, the playstation move just arrived so I'm off to try it out!
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-81135827303009663232010-10-29T11:44:00.000-07:002010-11-12T13:04:08.769-08:00PSP2 release date: Coming Soon To Bring In A New World Of Entertainment? There are many rumors going around. It looks like I've been away for far too long. Is the PSP2 the same as the PlayStation phone? Or is this a separate device coming in 2011 to compliment the PSP Phone (PS Phone? Name pending)

Is the PSP2 release date really in 2011? Could it actually be that PlayStation is soon going to release a new device or console? In fact the PlayStation portable was a hit, but could use an upgrade. The PlayStation portable release is going to be like a gamer's ipad it seems, as the rumors are that Sony is going after apple's market share. I don't know everyone loves games on their phone now, but what about evolving it? PSP could go in the direction of a smart-phone, or an ipad, or perhaps somewhere between. Personally, if it's a gamer phone I would like it to be twice the size of an iphone, but the problem is, that would be bulky in the pocket. If you go larger than an iphone, it's less portable. If you go iphone size, it's tough on the eyes to seriously consider games on it. However, I think they can pull off an iphone size screen with additional buttons on the sides or bottom.

So after much consideration of the impact of PlayStation motion and PlayStation 3 in 3dTV has, I realized that, wow... much of what I thought could have been possible with the PS4, is already possible with the PS3 thanks to software updates and accessory add-ons. I mean, even thought technology such as Emotiv's device could be added as an add on accessory provided a software update was done, and the games were made to support it. So what in the world can be the future of gaming? I have a few ideas still, but clearly the PSP2 is next on the list and should be released well before the PS4.

From my perspective the PlayStation move along with the 3d gaming patch to integrate with 3ds and special thanks to Netflix and Hulu plus for making themselves available with a simple download to the PS3 and the PS3 suddenly has an entirely new look and it's like it's a new console. You might as well call it PlayStation 3 2.0 or PlayStation 3 2nd generation or something.

As it turns out the PlayStation portable 2 release date could be as soon as 2011?! How's that for soon?

All I have to say is with PS move, PS3 in 3d, and an upcoming PSP2, is "in your face competitors."

The next post will brainstorm some ideas for the PSP2.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-74808285581350721492010-10-27T16:43:00.000-07:002010-10-27T16:43:03.702-07:00Play Station Phone PS Phone to be released in early 2011 or earlier! In case you haven't heard the recent news, the Playstation Phone will be released very soon. Meanwhile the PS move is gaining some steam and is converting the playstation into an entirely different game unit.

Combine Netflix or hulu plus with PS3, add in a 3d TV with a 3d game, add a little Playstation move game and you have the ultimate gaming experience. The way I see it, the playstation 3 has been replaced by the playstation 3 2.0! It's not quite playstation 4, but this is still a major advancement that basically transforms the PS3 into a machine that many would have guessed the PS4 would be like.

With this recent news my outlook on the PS4 being released any time soon is that it will be awhile. However, I will say that technology seems to be improving at an extremely fast rate. Look at how the Iphones came out of nowhere and suddenly everyone's got a smartphone.

But the Playstation 4 is probably going to be awhile. I just wasn't thinking. Why update the software or hardware when the playstation 3 console is already top notch? They simply can make updates to accessories, and to software updates via online system updates. Looking forward I am thinking that it's very possible that the playstation 4 is a ways away. Regardless, the PSP2 and the playstation phone (whether they are two different devices or not or whether the PSP2 is coming after the PS Phone has yet to be determined) should certainly pave the way and help give us some insight into what the future of the playstation 4 will look like!
Yes, I know many believed that the release date would be the end of 2010 or early 2011. Suffice to say that the PS4 release date is probably still going to be a ways away. All I know is I have heard nothing as to when the playstation 4 will be released, I don't know how far along they are, and all I can tell you is it still will be awhile.

Foretunately when it does get here, there may very well be a major breakthrough and this could be the most revolutionary system yet. How can I say that? Because there are actually systems out with the power to read your mind and operate controller free. Yes, it's in the primitive stages, but you may be able to play a game just by thinking about it, and playstation 4 will have the technology to do that. Altohough it's a bummer to wait this long, the longer we wait for a PS4 release date, the better the liklihood is that the technology will be superior as technology continues to improve. One of the most optomistic things is Japan's investing more than anyone else in nanotechnology, and Sony, a Japan based company will benefit greatly. That means if you want to have a system that works better and faster than ever, you will just have to wait it out. However, the possibilities for the capabilities of the next greatest system as a new generation hits are endless. Until then, grab a playstation 3 console system and a few games and use that to keep you busy while technology continues to advance.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-31695714672908592112010-04-12T11:20:00.000-07:002010-11-12T13:03:02.509-08:00Playstation 4 ScamAnyone claiming that you can buy or preorder the playstation 4 right now when it's not even invented is scamming you. I talk about how you can monitor the situation and potentially preorder it as soon as possible, but even that is more of being notified when you can preorder it.

However, there's another scam once the playstation 4 is actually out. When The playstation 4 is released, I expect there to be the same old scam that has been delivered since the playstation 2 was released. Actually, even prior to it's release people may attempt this.

The scam is when the ebay seller provides a product and has the title like "playstation - 4!" or "4 playstation" or "Playstation unit 4x" "playstation 4 units!. Then in the fine print the seller says "the winning bidder receieves 4 units of playstation 1 game console."

The scam is that you do not get playstation 4 unit as you may have suspected from the title and potentially misleading picture. Rather than getting the PS4 game console, you instead receive the PS one 4 times.

This was repeated with the PS3 and PS2, but also with the Xbox, where the winner won a box with the letter X on it.

In many ways some will view this not as a scam because the seller will actually go out of his or her way to clearly indicate that the item is not as it may seem, however because people have a tendency to trust with blind faith and no verification; expecting entities such as the better business bureaus and governement agencies to protect them, they get caught up in the excitement of the bidding and fail to realize what they have done.

To avoid this scam simply do your due dilligence. First, check the ebayer's score (or other online auction), then check the ebayers description thouroughly. Also, be aware of what ebay tells you to do to protect yourself. Ebay makes it possible to not have to pay if your product is not delivered, however they will likely not refund you due to your own lack of attention.
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-59507437976422688332009-04-07T11:40:00.000-07:002010-11-12T12:57:04.189-08:00Preorder Playstation 4
Preorder Playstation 4

A lot of people are excited about the playstation 4 debut, and many ask, "how can I preorder it"? It's a good question, considering how so many people rushed to reserve the playstation 3, that it seems obvious the playstation 4 will have serious demand. The PS4 game console, will no doubt in line with sony tradition be another mania of demand, with line stuffing excitement on it's release date. It's obvious why anyone would want to grab a copy as soon as they can. Unfortunately you can't reserve your copy before it's invented as far as I'm aware of. The rumors continue to circulate that PS4 may be ready as early as late 2010. My guess is it won't be out that soon, but it's entirely possible.

Who knows what kind of future games will be available for the upcoming new game console? But wouldn't it be nice to order it in advance?

Order the Playstation 4 Early

There's certainly a lot of value in preordering it. Game consoles often simply do not have enough games in stock when they are released. Whether they actually can't get enough physical product out, or if it's just a marketing ploy is irrelevant, the fact is there are plenty of rich people at home who are willing to buy their golden ticket to the cutting edge of technology. People sometimes sell a brand new playstation unit for thousands of dollars, in some cases 5 figures. Being able to turn your playstation 4 unit into massive cash by selling the unit on ebay, is only one reason to preorder it.

You probably want to lock it in at a fixed price yourself so you don't have to be the one paying thousands of dollars to get it.

In addition , you want to make sure you can actually receive one because you just can't miss out on this breakthrough technology.

So how exactly would you preorder it?
Unfortunately, it's too early to say...
But Check back here in the future and when we find out how, we will notify you. You then will be able to check through our Playstation 4 release date blog links and you will be able to Preorder the Playstation 4.

Update: I believe the best way to handle this business is to keep in contact with sony. You should be on a playstation list, and you should also have a friend or two that works at the stores. This will help you get information before anyone else, so you can quickly preorder it. You might try stopping by and handing them a card with your name and number as well as a note that you want to be notified about any information pertaining to a playstation 4. Additionally, there are plenty of websites which contain news on playstation 3, ps4, and other gaming related news. If you make sure to check with gaming websites constantly you will find the information you need. I have other things going on right now, and periodically, however I will research some info for you and try to get you updated info on the PS4.

Update 11/12: It is my belief that the direction sony went in was to provide the PS Move as a way to refresh and resell the playstation 3. This will help them gain on Nintendo without actually a new game console. As a result they will focus on PSP2, PS Mobile, and PS Tablets and other technology for awhile. If you want to preorder the playstation 4, you are going to have to sit on your hands and wait. In the meantime, perhaps you can preorder the playstation phone or the playstation portable 2.
PlayStation 4 release date
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-42813574052719515332009-04-04T15:17:00.000-07:002009-04-04T15:48:19.655-07:00Privacy PolicyPrivacy Policy

Personal Information
This privacy policy describes what information that is personal to the visitor and how we, Playstation4-ps4.blogspot collect and use this information.
We've all heard the exagerations of any new product. The old joke goes "if you want to get something to sell, convince people it will be the cure for everything". Mock ads of products that take this line of marketing make fun of them for over promising and under deliver. We've seen fake ads show magic pills that give you instant enlightenment and knowledge, cure cancer, make the fat thin and fit, make the blind see and the crippled walk, give you perfect physical health, increase your sexual performance and helps you to get any man or woman you want to desire you. But what if someday that's not so far fetched afterall?

In a Previous post, back in June of 2007, I talked about how I believed the PS4 would contain what I call "thought process engineering". The idea is that not only would the playstation 4 be able to READ our thought processes, but with the assistence of a PS4 we could actually model our own thought processes in the exact way we wanted.
I'm very excited to say that part 1 of what I call "thought process engineering" is already not only possible, but easily attainable and probable, and we have yet to see the results of emotiv, but if profitable, playstation 4 will probably begin working on it right away.
But part 2, being able to use the PS4 to model our thought processes requires that the machine can not only receive and use this information but also transmit us and allow 2 way communication with... our own thoughts. (Your imaginary friend is back, and this time is just like you, lol!)

Say we wanted to feel more passion, desire, confidence, excitement, joy, etc. The idea is that if we have the technology for a game to READ our thoughts by detecting the vibrations of the brainwaves, why can't we also learn to have the next playstation game console be able to through the use of the console's game controller, it can actually TRANSMIT those desired thoughts and emotions back to us?

Certainly would take a new meaning to "controller" as it literally would be able to control our mind in the way that we allow it to. Obviously that might be a little scary so the user would certainly have to have the option of turning up or down the game's influence, or turn it completely off, but if we could harness this technology, our wildest dreams would only be a thought away from seeming like reality. And since we have to be able to visualize something before we can make it a reality, we could learn to simulate actual careers and train our minds to become better golfers or more musical or mathematical.

Studies show that our DNA can not only transmit light photons, but actually receive them as well. Photons, contain micro bits of information, and that information is constantly past back and forth. It would be great if a playstation 4 or wii 2 or xbox 720 or another future game console could harness this information and use it to advance technology.

Scientist wanted to create absolute zero, the idea being that there is zero movement between atoms and molecules. And so they built a machine that they thought would get them there. But it turns out the closer they got, the more and more energy was needed to get there, and when they got close, photons were still transmitting data. Some evidence shows that information can be sent light years away instantanously. Quantom String Theory seems to show evidence that there are universally long quantom strings that threads make up the entire universe and that information can be past through these strings. The ps4 potentially could tap into this knowledge by directing the flow of this information, the way we do with our thoughts everyday.

All of this information shows that there is at least a potential scientific explination for psychic phenomenon. But we can't tap into it if we continue to use less than 10% of our brains potential. We can't to our current knowledge sort that information very well, and w cant control HOW that information is transmitted and received.
But what if we could?

What if we could fiure out how to specifically direct the flow of information in such a way that we could transmit these messages. Eventually we could learn to pick up this new "language", by reguarly interracting with it, and use the senses we more fully understand (like sight and sound), to let us know what information is being sent to us. We could synchronize everyone to this same frequency so we could better learn to understand each other.

We could harness our own evolutionary power. People with growth deficiency or injuries could have the PS4 to stimulate growth hormones. People that were blind due to eye damage could have their brains receive the same information they would if they were actually seeing. People that couldn't walk, could stimulate signals in the brain to regain feeling, and perhaps advance the recovery. Perhaps cancer patients could even send have brainwaves sent to let their body know not to allow this growth.

This idea to record brainwaves and transmit them back to the same person, or even more advanced send them to someone else, or even more advanced, use a model to change those waves slightly and send them back has not been accomplished yet to my knowledge. The idea is that you use someone's brain waves make a mold of that pattern, and send them back to someone else. This is the reverse of what they do with Emotiv. So far we only have where man can mentally communicate with the game console. Emotiv tracks what you like about a particular game, and it may be able to better change it's game to suit your needs. Perhaps the breakthrough technology of the PS4 will be that we can take someone hooked up to a playstation 4 "controller" or brain remote, and not only will the machine be able to read the brainwaves, and change the game, but it might have a feature where you tell the machine what mood you are in on a scale of one to 10, and the game will use that information to actually record your brainwaves, and "reward" you by resubmitting these brainwaves back to you at a later time. Perhaps you will be able to "upload" your own thoughts, feelings, and sensations, and have them transmitted back to you whenever you choose, or even tell the machine what thesefeelings are, and the game will associate certain thoughts and feelings with actions in the game. So you weren't able to save the new final fantasy character, perhaps you will feel sad.
I could even speculate that perhaps playstation 4, 5, or 6 would tap into a "universal consciousness" by "logging in" online, and then have your brainwaves synchronized with other gamers that have similar brainwaves. Perhaps we could even use this technology to directly transmit thoughts with friends. Perhaps we could "matrix" the information much like Keanu Reaves was programed in the movie the matrix to download the skills to instantly learn martial arts, and to learn to fly a helicopter. Who knows what the future could bring. With a future game console, maybe 2, 3 or 4 game generations away, the information age would expload into a new age as we would not only be able to upload all the information, but have all of the mental and emotional abilities we wanted, and even stimulate our growth hormones to give us over time the physical abilities we wanted.

This all might sound a little weird, especially the whole tapping into "universal consciousness" by having everyone connect together and learn of each other's thoughts, and certainly it would have to be used with great care... But if this could be perfected, we could all better come to a more positive understanding of each other, and there would be no need for hatred and predjudice... so now it could create world peace.

I'm laughing as I type this, because not only does this describe the potential of future PS4s and PS5s, but the power of our own mind, and because of what I'm actually saying the future could bring.

So the old saying is to give them the idea that your product can be the cure for all. I think a better approach would be to actually create something that achieves results. So perhaps the future of gaming, such as future sony playstations, could do exactly like these psuedo-ads of magic pills could do and then some.
Coming soon, the playstation 4 and playstation 5. It will give you instant enlightenment and knowledge, cure cancer, make the fat thin and fit, make the blind see and the crippled walk, give you perfect physical health, increase your sexual performance and helps you to get any man or woman you want to desire you.... oh yeah... and create world peace.
Or even if they wanted to spend, might it be difficult to find the technology in mass development?

The Sad truth is that the reccession impacts everyone!

With that being said, the gaming industry seems to still be doing well relative to the rest of the economy. And what could help the cause is that Japan, home to Nintendo and of course Sony, although still impacted, has invested a lot of money in nanotechnology, in fact, more than any other country has. So I actually remain somewhat optomistic about the future of gaming. I think that innovation is what we need if we are going to help turn things around. Some believe the internet boom and innovation is what kept money flowing into the market in the late 90s when markets may have otherwized declined. That's both positive and negative. It's Negative because if not for such booms, the markets may not have been bid up so high in the exhuberant times leading to an unnatural boom, and now the unnatural "bust" we are experiencing.

It may not have been the internet that brought the economy down, but it was the failure of new ideas and continuous innovation that made them come back to reality, which was much lower than anyone imagined, as the dot com innovation took the market much higher than people realize. Of course it wasn't until 2008 that the market peaked, but the market actually has been in a fall since 2000 if you measure it in gold. Gold is a better indicator since you could double the amount of money overnight and everything would cost twice as much even if the economic conditions declined. Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan effectively did so by lowering inerest rates, and irresponsible spending casued inflation to result in a rise in prices. So if stocks have been in a decline in TRUE value since 2000, why?

In some measures the market was overvalued in the late 90s, even the mid 90s. Warren Buffett stepped out of the market in 96 because he felt stocks were overvalued. But he didn't realize how big the mania of the tech boom was going to be.

You see, the internet tech boom of the 90s was much more responsible for the decline than anyone realizes. First you have several investors putting a whole bunch of money into internet companies when stocks are overpriced. Then, you have every day people becomming CEOs and business owners of, internet companies and taking advantage of all this money pumping in as people look for the next Yahoo and ebay (the next yahoo was Google, the next Ebay was Amazon). So now you have all these CEOs out of nowhere getting paid in stock options and becomming rich over night along with everyone owning stocks. Of course then you have the wide open lending practices. Fill out a form and you'll get a loan, put up nothing down now...

Everyone thought with the market in a "new economy" that they could simply sell their stocks and pay everything off... and besides home prices rise so if we can't make payment we can always sell on the spot.

The problem is, several companies manufactured earnings, and rather than innovate there was people that were crooks that tinkered with the numbers. That was not the very end, but eventually the money could no longer continue to flow faster and faster nor could the new innovations. So suddenly people put their money into real estate, as the money transfered over for awhile into real estate. People had been accustomed to overpaying for houses, because that's what they had always done, and it continued to go up and up.

The problem was there wasn't enough income to feed this bubble for very long.

With the new CEO getting the dot com stock options and high increasing income, that made sense. But the average income plummeted, and people had to move out or find another way to make money Now people wanted in on this market, even though they couldn't afford it.

You have every day people adding to the hype, you have people lying about what they have in assets to get bigger loans and bigger houses, they all figure they all can sell at higher prices, but since EVERYONE is buying now, and not as many people will buy later, it is difficult.

So without the influx of dot com money, you could simply not expect people to spend like they did before. Yet they still did. Some of them sold early and dealt with the realization that they couldn't afford as much, but others tok out home equity loans and continued to buy, using their home as a credit card to pay off their other credit cards which were used to pay off credit cards. But this could not last forever even as people lied about their income to borrow more to buy another house and use it as a credit card to pay off their additional debts.

But even worse, as the money transfered over into the oil businesses, and gold mines due to all this excess money from low interest rates, soon businesses had to deal with high gas prices and expenses for food and other things that had inflated in value due to the low interest rates that was a reaction to the sharp sell offs. Meanwhile the consumer had to deal with those things as well, and it wasn't long before they couldn't afford as much. So now the retailers had to hike up the prices and make job cuts, and people lost income and as the income declined, their ability to purchased declined with inflation, but now they had to deal with less income in dollars as well. Now is where the businesses started to crumble, and even those at the top (gold and oil) were not going to be able to continue to profit the same way. People were not going to make the same mistakes they did. So everyone spent less, businesses went under, job cuts were made, lower income results in lower income, and soon, all of the people looking to buy a new home are terrified of buying, plus they don't have enough income to support the current prices anyways.

This is a very serious negative trend, so how can I be optomistic?

Well, there are two ways out of this mess. One is to let nature run it's course, something that should have been done after the peak in 2000, but if done now, the consequences could be disastrous. If we do nothing, we may have a depression. But if we try to pump all this excess money into the system things may be good for awhile, but it may actually make things even worse IF that extra money and credit doesn't lead to more actual production.

The real solution is innovation... we are spending with the HOPE that serious innvation that revolutionizes everything can make what is an inflated level that people can't pay for seem reasonable. An example would be if all of a sudden an invention came along that reduced our dependency on oil and gas (and solar isn't going to cut it). Something like cold fusion, zero point energy, or Teslas free energy ideas.

While a playstation 4 might not be the cure to zero point energy or cold fusion, it is at least a start. See all the stimulous plans in the world won't bail out an economy if people aren't willing to spend, and companies aren't going to produce if there is no demand. BUT new innovative products that people just HAVE to have WILL get people spending. It will get investors back in the markets, and if confidence can be restored jobs will start again. If people can actually form companies that produce value that people are willing to payfor, the exchange of value will help all of us. It isn't that there isn't enough to go around because there's enough natural resources for everyone to live like millionaires. It's that there's not enough innovative ways to continously do new things that people are going to continuously want to exchange their wealth for, in a way that everyone can continue to bennefit.

Out of neccessity there's certain things that people need. Food, water. If the economy consisted only of this, everyone would have to be in farming or the business of water and exchage food for water. But then there would be people in other parts of the world who wouldn't survive because the climate isn't right to grow food. But, the economy also uses minerals, which people use to build tractors which tractor businesses create in an innovative way. Because of this innovation, now the farmers can grow more food, and the people with a lot of food would certainly be willing to give a LOT of food away in order to have this tractor, and as a result, the company making this device would be willing to also give a lot of food to those that can supply the material. Then those that supply the material would have to innovate to find an easy way to get it out of the ground. So someone else might innovate and make a new creation. It's this innovation that allows us all to live great lives.

Some people think communism is great in theory, but observe that it never works and it probably won't work. Why? Because when people are forced into certain jobs into such a strict system that only functions a certain way, there's no room or reward for innovation. When people aren't creatively going on their own to look for their own solution.

So state run capitalism (facism) or comunism with a dictator, won't work becase there's no room for innovation. It's a utopian view of the world, but the world is not good enough for a utopia. It does not run effeciently enough. In a utopian society more people would have to die, population would have to be controlled, and innovation could never occur.

This idea that God is done creating is wrong, that the universe is done and is already "complete" is wrong. It continues to grow, chemicals, continue to combine, planets continue to form, the universe continues to expand, and we must innovate to keep up with the changing world. Soon the population will continue to grow, unless something changes, and in order to pay for all of the resources we continue to need, we must find a way to get more out of what we already have, and find a way to harness the infinitely available energy of sun, wind, earth, but also innovate and find ways to combine chemicals and harness the quantom power of all the atoms and electrons.

Whether it's cold fusion or simply a game that requires nano technology, the playstation 4 could just be the new technology we need to get the momentum going again.

Whats to say that the next play station doesn't provide such a powerful engine that people are able to use it to simulate and understand cold fusion or the quantom energy field. What's to say that by accident developers try to create a system that has a device that better monitors our movement and in doing so they make it so powerful that it can even monitor the atoms around us?

Never underestimate the power of innovation, especially when it comes to a new playstation 4 console.

Official PS4 site
PlayStation 4 release date
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16314859991362664784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-62729648282462860492007-06-15T13:40:00.000-07:002009-04-04T13:55:09.583-07:00PS4 console to contain thought process engineering?PS4 Console Update: It was amazing to see some of these playstation 4 ideas that I had come true right in front of our eyes. Okay, so the PS4 hasn't been released yet and there hasn't even been a definitive playstation 4 (PS4) release date, however, there is another game console called Emotiv that HAS been released that does in fact incorperate these game console ideas using thought processing technology!

Apparently there is now technology that allows you to complete an action simply thinking about it. For those of you that questioned the "law of attraction" and wondered about it's effects, maybe this is more proof that you can actually understand, rather than the scientific and mathematical gibberish.

Believe it or not, our brainwaves are very much things. Anything we think of actually causes our brains to fire electrons off in a certain pattern. That pattern actually causes a vibrational wave with a unique pattern, very similar to the way a radio wave, or sound wave.

update: Emotiv actually created a mathematical algorithm to measure brainwave activity and the micro-movements that occur as a result of the brainwaves hitting your head... sounds very science fiction, but it's actually true . Could we see the same technology from a Ninetedo Wii 2, or Sony Playstation 4 Console?

Brainwaves are nothing new, this has been known for a very long while. But what's only been recently discovered is proof is the impact these waves have. Brainwaves act almost as a magnetic wave drawing things closer, and pushing things away. Who knows, a kind, highly focused thought might be the cause of all the seemingly miraculous recoveries from diseases.

It's very much true that our brain can effect the entire world around us. But until now, we've never been able to reveal how specific of an effect our thoughts can have.

Although it sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, researchers at Washington University in St Louis have in fact successfully succeeded in creating a computer game that responds directly to brain waves. A grid atop the brain monitors brain activity and translates it into game commands. The study was conducted using epileptic patients. By simply thinking about the motion they were able to get a cursor to move a target and have succeeded in at least a 74% accuracy.

Update: This technology has been advanced much farther, and I expect the PS4 console to advance this technology as well.

Gamers may think this is really cool, but they are most certainly not the only ones who should be enthused about this information. Researchers believe that as technology develops they will be able to use it to control prosthetic limbs.

Now if you are like me then you are fascinated about the way we think. Significant in many aspects especially towards the end of the year. There are many theories that it will be the the end of the earth... The apocalypse based on Mayan predictions and the bible code. Actually some scholars now believe the Mayan calander is off and the end date actually isn't for much later than 2012, however collectively everyone is still focused on that date. Astrologically 2012 is known as "zero point". However others reason that although it is a significant, it will not be the death of the earth, but simply a new age. Apocalypse simply means "the awakening". A time when the current economical and political states will vanish, and the human race will become more aware of it's potential. Some even say that we will evolve and our DNA itself will transformed. Many say that the "photon belt" an astrological belt of a high frequency of energy and light is approaching. Sounds science fiction? Indeed!

But I'm not here to talk about the theories of humanity's end, or transformation, I'm here to talk about another reason that has not been mentioned yet. The overall knowledge in the world has been doubling throughout history. Not only that, but the rate in which it's doubling is accelerating exponentially. Currently the amount of available knowledge will double once in under 18 months. If the trend continues to speed up the doubling rate, the amount of knowledge at the beginning of 2012 will double every day. Towards the end of 2012 it will double every nanosecond. With this kind of knowledge, one can only wonder what it will do to technology. Moore's law says that the speed of technology (for a fixed size) doubles about once every 18 months. This was not done by looking back far enough to notice it's patterns, but I would guess that technology and knowledge run closely parallel.

Enough with the talk, what's this mean for PS4, which could very likely be released somewhere around that time?

The answer: Whatever you want it to.

Get out your sci-fi books and movies, because if any of this is remotely true, the things we will be able to do in 2012 will be seemingly an infinite amount of times more than we currently can. This means that your very thoughts will be able to influence the design of the game. The games will connect to the network where all thoughts will create additions and "tweak" the game. Perhaps that means the system is not a physical gaming system, but instead a neural network we can tap into with our thoughts, and that way connect with everything and everyone. With this collective consciousness (rather than collective unconscious which is what famed psychologist Karl Jung believed was something that many geniuses tapped into for all major source of inspiration), we will actively be able to access the seemingly infinite.

Believe it or not, but there already has been research study where participants using their thoughts and the type of technology that can detect brainwaves and intention, were able to, with a 70% success rate, move a cursor, grab an object and move it on a screen.

Imagine as you read, the mouse you move to scroll this page down will once not exist. Simply think of the cursor moving down, and it will.

But I suspect a much more intimate relationship of you and your PS4. Not only will you be able to control the games action with your thoughts, but the games actions will influence your thoughts in a way that seems real.

Smell touch taste and feel what you would if you were in the game (of course the pain-threshold would be tuned way down, and the amount of violent games with your entire "experience" would be greatly limited). If you're blind, deaf, or lack any of your 5 senses, you still will enjoy the experience as if you had all 5 senses. It will stimulate the areas of the brain of "seeing", and perhaps through such sensations it may actually be able to simulate sight for people that still have healthy eyes but are blind due to the brain being unable to access the areas of the brain responsible for sight.

Enjoy any experience known to man. Take a magical journey to wherever your mind can take you. In fact, the game may have a mind of its own, learning which experiences stimulates your desired emotional states, and giving you more of it. Instantly learn any skills in the world like Neo when he downloaded a ton of info and suddenly said "I know kung fu" or instantly became a pilot.

But as my imagination is limited somewhat by my knowledge, this is only the beginning.

So prepare yourself to enter the matrix, take the red pill and see just how far this rabbit hole will go. A world of fantasy and a never ending rabitt hole is on it's way.... if of course civilization survives long enough so we can experience it.

Personally, I think it will one day be used as a very important tool to monitor a list of things that our thoughts resonate with (that we will attract into our life if we maintain the same frame of mind), but also to act as a guide on how to shape our minds to achieve the results that we choose.

update: The thought processing has actually evolved a step farther with the gaming system eMotiv. Emotive is a gaming system that responds to your thoughts and allows you to control the character with the game. It's not mainstream, but always before a technology becomes mainstream and popular, you will hear about it's development or something similar before hand. Motion technology wasn't at all popular until Dance Dance Revolution, then there were farther developments before the Wii came out and popularized it one step further and then motion technology developed and PS3 was on the cutting edge with playstation move. My guess is that this could very easily be the next stage in gaming but it could be awhile before we really see major improvements and implimentation.
Some have said that the 'only way this could be possible is if you downloaded games via the internet'.
Hello people… don't you remember Nintendo and Sega genesis?

The original gaming systems didn't have disk drives, they had cartridges. CDs, DVDs, and now blu-ray technology made it possible to hold much more information on disks, so systems have gone that route.

If you could make conveniently sized chips play high quality games, and either store them on the hard drive digitally, or run through the upgraded chip, they could easily run on non disk formatted software.

With the new cell chip, and Sony working on a future chip with less than half the size technology, it is more than feasible that the future will bring games via chips or memory sticks.

And while I'm not proposing that I believe that the PS4 will go back to game cartridges (at least in it's original form), it is entirely possible that with memory sticks and USB ports that the games could be featured without a physical disk drive AND without requiring people to download games via the internet. I mean if someone's going to talk about the future in an innovative market, you think that they could at least maintain an open mind and use their imagination a little bit.

One option is that gaming companies will partner with Sony, and the games will be featured on an upgradeable hard drive. From the software developers perspective it would make no sense to continue to develop games if their wasn't a contract in place to make a specific amount of games, however that would cause the Sony to be ultimately way too high priced. Unless...

Unless they have a monthly subscription price for ALL of that developers games. For example, if you wanted all of say Konami's games, you pay a certain monthly fee.

If you want EA games, another monthly fee. By limiting the hard drives to developers and combinations of games, or by types of games (sports games subscription, shooter subscription), they could mass produce hard drives with several games and upgrade them. This is most likely the most tedious option of all of them, but gaming developers would love a monthly check coming in, especially if they're featured with a top selling game.

Say there was a game with the popularity of Halo. All consumers would order a shooter game. All the shooter games would benefit from Halo's success. Of course the motivation to produce high quality games would be lower, and the consumers that prefer to play fewer game titles would probably dislike this option. However there is also the possibility that the larger game developers would team up to create even better games. Even if this is the least likely to happen, it is still a possibility.

Another option is that games are played on a network, not downloaded through the internet. This would mean that you would go online and either pay a subscription fee, or pay a one time fee to access specific games.

You would then play with others on a network, similar to games such as final fantasy 11, Warcraft, or Everquest. The game would not be downloaded, but it would be already stored on a powerful server, and the games would run from that server.

Of course I'm sure Sony will make it possible to play 1 player games as well. Since you would be playing primarily through the internet, as an added feature they would also being able to keep track of high scores, records, and other player's achievements or even enter time trials. This would allow competition with 1 player games for those with that competitive nature.

To gain access to the games, perhaps you buy a 1 time encrypted access code via stores so you can buy the software the traditional way, and perhaps you could also buy access to the game via the internet. Whether you have to download it or play it streaming or not is another story.

Then of course there is the PSP2 option. This is where Sony would basically require you to buy the PSP2 to be able to play the PS4. While it may not be the most favorable option for consumers, it would allow people to buy the physical disks, gaming sticks (or whatever is used for games), and upload them to the PS4. The PS4 would then be able to either connect directly via a link to the PSP2 for quicker download time, or use a wireless connection and download the games. If they go this route, you would think that they would have more possibilities.

If the PSP2 is involved, I could see them using some sort of memory stick type hard drive for entire games. You would then buy the sticks, and be able to upload them to either your PS4 OR your PSP2.

This would take backward compatibility 1 step farther as newly published games could be used on either system, whether you're on the go or at home... But unless there would be someway of converting your old discs to these memory sticks, this brings us to another common concern with a non physical disk drive.

The PS2 and PS3 have both been backward compatible. Recently Sony’s president Kaz Hirai said that 10 years is the general shelf life for systems, however as explained in a previous article, that doesn't necessarily mean that the PS4 will be released in 10 years). In fact, I still stand by that statement, and I think that it is very likely that the PS4 will have a separate disk drive accessory which allows you to play the PS3, PS2, and PS1 games. And perhaps you could even convert the games into rewritable memory sticks.

This will allow them to transition in less than 10 years if they wish to while still maintaining friendly relationships with the consumer.

However, it is also very possible that I am wrong and that a 10 year deadline is possible. If this is the case, the 5 year extension with IBM and Toshiba that they had working with the cell chips, and working on a chip by using technology less than half the size would clearly show that their original intention is to create a chip for the PSP2.

That way, if the best technology is the small version of the cell chip when the PS4 production rolls around, they can use it, but if technology changes, they can choose to use or develop something else.
While it's very possible that the PS4 is released within 10, 7, or even 5 years, we must still be prepared to go without a PS4 until 2016.

Mike Summers

Featured author

Unofficial PS4 site
PlayStation 4 release date
playstation 4http://www.blogger.com/profile/06495759494619167275noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050245945083222604.post-20606050755522725602006-12-07T13:46:00.001-08:002006-12-13T18:50:55.785-08:00Has Sony Already Won The Hd Format War With The Release Of The Ps3?

Has Sony Already Won The Hd Format War With The Release Of The Ps3? by Gary Ruplinger

Can the Playstation 3 Help Sony and Friends Win The HD Format War?

Quiet as things have been, it'd actually be hard to tell that there is a format war going on right now for high definition discs. There's Toshiba (among others) on one side with its HD-DVD format and then there's Sony (among others) with its Blu-ray format. Both offer far higher disc capacity than standard DVD players and much high quality images and sound.

So far neither HD-DVD nor Blu-ray has made much progress making it into consumers' homes.

However, that's all about to change.

With the release of Sony's third generation gaming system, the Playstation 3, millions of homes will have a Blu-ray player in them. Sony made the decision to include its new Blu-ray player in the Playstation 3 rather than go with a PS3 proprietary format or a DVD player that it included with the PS2. Although Sony's decision to include a Blu-ray player in their new PS3 has caused them many problems, including forcing the company to take a much higher loss on each unit than expected* and with production problems due to shortages of the blue diodes needed to make the players, this strategy will likely pay off in the long run for Sony.

In fact, one would have to wonder how Toshiba could even compete with Sony's ability to get Blu-ray players into the homes of millions of Americans. Toshiba has no game system that people will line up to buy.

Given what's likely to happen, it would seem that the answer is no. So far neither format has really shown to be leaps and bounds better than the other. In fact, both are about equivalent. Are consumers who already have a Blu-ray player with their PS3 really going to go out and buy an HD-DVD player from Toshiba? Not likely. However, many owners of one of Toshiba's players will likely go out and buy a Playstation 3 to keep up with the latest gaming technology. It would seem as if Toshiba's HD-DVD format is destined to be another technology relic like betamax and DVD-Audio.

Also, it appears likely that the PS3 will help to drive increased sales of Blu-ray movies since PS3 owners will have a Blu-ray player and will likely want to own their movies in a higher quality format since they have the player. Even those who don't have the high definition equipment will likely buy some in the hopes that in the future they will have the equipment to fully take advantage of the new technology or even merely for bragging rights.

*It is customary for game system manufacturers to take a loss on the sales of the gaming units when they're first released in order to allow more people to purchase the system. The companies know they can make there money back when consumers purchase games for these systems. Also, over time, the prices of the components to make the systems come down so that eventually the manufacturers do make a profit on each system sold.

About the Author

Gary Ruplinger is the editor of PS3ASAP.com and Bluraytips.com.
